French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu has successfully survived his first no-confidence vote in Parliament. Of the 560 lawmakers, 271 voted against the government—falling short of the 289 votes required to topple it.
The likelihood of Lecornu surviving the motion increased significantly after he announced a suspension of the controversial pension reform plan. The reform will now be postponed until after the 2027 presidential election, easing tensions and gaining him some political breathing room.
